The Galaxy Paintings contain various images that attempt to describe or explain the cosmos and its origins. These images include photographs of the heavens as seen through a telescope, scientific diagrams and illustrations from spiritual texts, including Tantric paintings from India. I am struck by the similarities of their form as well as by their mystery, which exists, no matter how prosaic the original function.
